The Issue

Our community in Henderson, NV, cannot ignore the escalating threats associated with the continuous growth of data centers in our area. This is more than just an infrastructure concern; it is a direct threat to our health, well-being, and environment. The ever-present noise and low-frequency hums from these data centers are not just inconveniences; they pose significant health risks. Studies have shown that chronic noise exposure is linked to cardiovascular diseases, metabolic disturbances, and mental health issues such as insomnia, anxiety, and depression. Our children are experiencing headaches and nightmares, and our families are suffering due to the relentless industrial noise.

But the consequences extend beyond human health. The vibrations and noise pollution also disrupt local wildlife, contributing to infertility and posing long-term environmental risks. Our quality of life is steadily degrading, and action is urgently needed.

In the last City Council meeting, where a proposed moratorium for the city of Henderson was to be presented, our Council Members—Mayor Michelle Romero, Ward I's Jim Seebock, Ward II's Monica Larson, Ward III's Carrie Cox, and Ward IV's Dan H. Stewart—unfortunately chose to bypass this critical proposal. We cannot afford for this oversight to continue.

We urge the City Council to reassess their decision and enforce a moratorium on the construction of new data centers, not just in Henderson but across all of Nevada. This moratorium should be a priority agenda item at the next City Council meeting in City Hall in Henderson, NV.

By placing a moratorium, we aim to halt any further deterioration of our community's living conditions. This is a call to protect our health, our families, and our environment for the present and the future. We need your support to make this happen.

Please sign this petition to ensure that our voices are heard and that protective measures are implemented without delay. Stand with us against the unchecked expansion of data centers in Nevada.
