The Issue

Demand a Baseline — a line below which no one falls.

By signing this petition, you send a powerful and united signal that together we demand a new Baseline social contract for the age of AI and automation, a Baseline that no person falls beneath.

The Broken Social Contract

AI and automation are decoupling economic output from human labor while setting records for the fastest profit growths ever seen. The old social contract- work in exchange for survival- is breaking down. This is not a distant crisis to think about in the future, it’s already underway today.

One cannot build a social contract on labor to survive and then dissolve the labor without dissolving the contract. A new social contract is needed.

The New Social Contract

Whatever the details of the new social contract, it must at minimum meet the Baseline metrics below which no member of a society can fall. Not as a charity or handout, but as the minimum requirement for a viable future economy:

    Calories & Water
Guaranteed nutritional and clean water basics.

    Shelter
Dignified, private, and thermally stable living space.

    Healthcare
    24/7 diagnostic access and care.

    Connectivity
Broadband internet access to learn & participate.

    Mobility
    Reliable access to essential transportation.

“Who pays for that?”

Not only can we afford to secure the survival of our own species, we cannot afford not to.

Before we work out the costs, tax structures, or even the details like exact liters of drinking water per person¹, we must first agree with one voice that any new social contract must uphold a line below which no one should fall. We reject any patchwork solution that fails to address the baseline of human wellbeing.

AI and automation are on a course to exceed human GDP. We are seeing excess value creation everywhere AI is applied. That excess value was made from AIs that were trained on all of our data, and it's time that all of us share in that excess value rather than just the few who own the servers or tech stacks.

Our power in numbers is a voice that can’t be ignored that must be responded to by our elected officials:

"What’s your Baseline?"

"Won't your proposed policies put people below the Baseline?"

"How will we deliver the Baseline for our people?"

Sign this petition now to send a powerful and united signal that together we demand a new Baseline social contract for the age of AI and automation, a Baseline that no person falls beneath.
