My life changed forever when my sister Shalita Hunter  was brutally murdered on May 13,2016 at 12 midnight. Her life was taken in a vicious and unforgivable act, and yet, no one has come forward to help solve her hideous murder. Despite her cries for help ringing through the night, people chose not to get involved, leaving my family shattered and desperate for answers.

It is unfathomable that in our community, people can turn a blind eye to such a horrendous crime. My sister’s life was precious. She was loved deeply by her son, family and friends, and she deserved justice. Ignoring her pleas for help as she fought for her life is not just inhumane; it is unacceptable.

We demand a full investigation into this case. We urge local authorities and law enforcement to reopen the investigation with a fresh perspective, putting every resource at their disposal to find justice for my sister. We need skilled investigators who are not only capable of solving the crime but are also compassionate and committed to righting this wrong.

This is more than just a personal plea. It’s a call to our community and our justice system to stand against the culture of silence and fear. If we continue to allow such atrocities to go unanswered, we diminish our own humanity. Holding those responsible to account isn't just about my sister—it’s about protecting all loved ones and ensuring that no other family has to endure the heartbreak and helplessness that we have.
