My sister, Blanca Elisa Roberson, vanished on August 6th, 1989 from Aransas Pass, TX. Her disappearance has left a scar in our hearts that no amount of time can heal. But what's harder to live with is the constant cloud of suspicion that hovers over our family due to the unsatisfactory handling of her case by the Aransas Pass Police Department.

In 2016, the department purportedly received a tip pointing to the location of Elisa's remains. This prompted an expansive search with the supervision of the Aransas Pass Police Department, Texas EquuSearch, cadaver dogs, and ground-penetrating radar technology. Even though the search attracted substantial press coverage because of its association with the police department, neither the department nor Texas EquuSearch ever released a press statement regarding the matter even though it is standard procedure. It is harrowing for our family to remain in the dark about the progress of an investigation that affects our lives profoundly.

The lack of transparency and efficient communication by the Aransas Pass Police Department does not only conceal the truth about Elisa's case but also impedes our attempts to continue independently investigating the matter. It is crucial, therefore, to seek a comprehensive, transparent review and re-investigation of the case, to bring us closer to the truth about what happened to Elisa and to dispel the lingering suspicion cast on our family.

This petition asks the Aransas Pass Police Department to step up to the responsibility they owe the community they serve by ensuring that investigations, especially pertaining to life and death, are conducted with the utmost respect, transparency, and thoroughness.
