As a devoted pet parent, I have watched my truly beloved fur babies, both of which are house cats, cower in fear, violently shake and run into doors and furniture in nothing short of sheer terror every single time that fireworks light up the sky. The loud bangs, sizzles, cracks and bright flashes are not just an inconvenience to both vulnerable humans but a genuine source of sheer terror for a huge majority of animals. This is not just about my pets; countless other animals suffer from similar distress during firework season, sadly some of which have died

Fireworks are not only harmful to pets but also pose significant risks of harm to farm animals and wildlife of all kinds not to mention the environment as a whole, there’s the vulnerable humans, adults and children with learning difficulties, the elderly and very young, the children who can’t sleep because of the constant explosions which then goes on to impact their education, domestic violence sufferers/survivors, ex/serving soldiers with PTSD! The list goes on, fireworks alsocontribute significantly to air pollution with harmful particles and smoke that can affect both humans and all animals, as does the debris left behind from them. 

We believe that enjoyment should never come at the expense of others' well-being - be they humans, animals or the environment

Therefore we call upon our lawmakers to implement a total ban on selling fireworks to the public.

ONE day a year per celebration (Bonfire Night/Diwali/New Year/Chinese New Year etc) for public displays is more than adequate, these events can then be planned for by animals owners and severely limit the impact of fireworks, it will still however still affect wildlife and damage the environment but at least this could be severely limited
