Demand 12 Year Old Strangled by Father be Returned Safely to Her Mother

The Issue

Our story begins with a mother's worst nightmare. Roughly 3 weeks ago, my special needs daughter was strangled by her abusive father, a horrifying act that she survived only to be ignored when she begged for an order of protection from him. She is 12 and vulnerable due to her conditions.

The system that should have protected her instead forced her to be returned to his custody. On November 26, 2023, at the hospital, when she realized she was being returned to the father who strangled her, the police had to be called. Livingston PD officers ripped her violently off of my body while she screamed in pain and terror. Lilah will live the rest of her life with the knowledge that her father tried to strangle her.

This is my family's story of personal tragedy but it is reflective of a national crisis in our society. Family Courts world-wide have completely dispensed with "law" and Constitutional violations on a daily basis are the norm. Protective parents are jailed for reporting abuse and the children are repeatedly barred from the safe parent and forced (bodily) back into the custody of violent abusers, often resulting in a life of abuse and/or death.

Please help ensure my daughters' safety and well-being by signing this petition. The judges have inexplicably barred my access to my two daughters completely. I have NO IDEA where they are, despite zero evidence I have ever harmed any of my 4 daughters. It is hard to put into words what it feels like to have no idea where my own daughter is considering the excruciating events on November 26, 2023, which is when I last saw her. Wherever she is, she is suffering badly and statistically, she is endangered.

The judge has ordered my child to be returned to the father who strangled her. In NJ, strangulation assault is a felony. It is also the biggest predictor of homicide. We DEMAND that the Morris County judges who ordered my child into the custody of a violent abuser be recalled. Judges are not permitted to endanger our childrens' lives.

My daughter secretly and bravely documented the strangulation assault in DETAIL on her school chromebook, knowing it would be reported. Please sign this petition today - help me bring my daughters home safely. Don't let Lilah's cry for help be silenced. We demand reform. Silence is consent. I don't consent to my child (or any other) being at risk for violent abuse and/or death. Until the system is reformed, WE MUST be the voice for the children whose pleas for help are ignored. Their lives depend on it. Please sign and show that you feel the same.  My daughter cried out and was silenced. She deserves to free from violent assaults. She deserves love and safety. Please sign this petition. Help Lilah be heard.

In the photograph, cropped for violence, Lilah is making her statement to the police and using her hands to demonstrate her father's hands around her throat, with his thumbs right at her windpipe.
