As a parent, I shouldn’t have to beg an airline to keep my underage child next to me. 

Imagine, a 5 year old sitting next to a stranger for hours??

But that’s what happens far too often on Delta flights, especially for families traveling on basic economy fares. Unless you pay extra or get lucky, you risk being separated from your child—even if they’re just a toddler or young kid.

And for many of us, there’s no way to pay extra. We’re already stretching to afford the tickets. Some of us even try to choose our seats, only to be told that it’s “not guaranteed.”

That’s not just frustrating. It’s unsafe, stressful, and unnecessary.

We’re calling on Delta Air Lines to adopt a clear and universal family seating policy that automatically assigns children under 13 seats next to their parent or guardian, regardless of fare type

Applies to every ticket, including basic economy
Ensures no family has to rely on gate agents, volunteer seat swaps, or last-minute stress to stay together
 
This isn’t just about comfort—it’s about common sense and child safety.
