Delta Air Lines Frontline Employees
Delta Air Lines Frontline Employees
The Issue
Petition from Delta Air Lines Airport Customer Service (ACS) Workers to the general public
We, the Airport Customer Service (ACS) employees of Delta Air Lines, submit this petition to formally raise urgent concerns regarding our working conditions, compensation, safety, and job security.
As frontline employees, we are essential to daily operations and customer experience. Despite this, we are facing conditions that undermine our well-being, safety, and long-term stability. With your support we wish to enhance the frontline worker experience at Delta Air Lines.
We’d like to share several key issues that require immediate attention:
MORALE, TRANSPARENCY & WORKPLACE CULTURE
Stop Union Busting:
- Delta will not respectfully honor workers rights to organize. There are ongoing concerns about union suppression, despite the fact that approximately 80% of the airline industry is unionized. Delta Air Line pilots are protected by a collective bargaining agreement with ALPA, and Delta Air Line Corporation is protected by The Airlines for America Union. Frontline workers and Flight Attendants deserve the right to stand for labor and full job protection? There has been no effective channel for employee voices to be heard. Workers fear retaliation for discussing organization efforts or raising concerns
- A widening gap between public messaging and employee reality, including media portrayals of the company as a “top workplace” that do not reflect the frontline experiences
- Frequent policy and procedural changes are implemented without adequate notice, training, or transparency which increases the chance of injury or disciplinary action
- Continued strain from increased workloads without corresponding pay or support, further lowering morale
BENEFITS & WORKING CONDITIONS
- A clear need for stronger job protections to prevent unjust termination and ensure stability for employees
- Despite increasing workloads, employees are expected to do more while earning less relative to industry standards. Delta being the most profitable airline compensates below-average wages and benefits
- We have strong concerns regarding workers’ compensation and FMLA practices, including harsh or potentially unlawful administration through third-party systems Workers are calling for fair, transparent, and humane treatment
- Inequitable overtime distribution, with opportunities often limited or unfairly assigned
- Lack of pension security replaced by an annual profit-sharing model that is not guaranteed—especially for employees who are terminated or unable to remain employed long-term
EQUIPMENT & SAFETY
- Workplace injuries including below wing-related incidents, are a growing concern with trends reflected in data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics
- Although safety is emphasized, workers are not consistently provided with safe, reliable equipment
Equipment breaking down mid-operation, increasing risk of injury, collisions, and operational hazards in active airfield environments. Operator error is not always the case. Reports of dangerous equipment failures, including:- Vehicle tires detaching during operation
- Lack of essential safety features
- Headset devices and scanners do not function
- Bald tires used in severe weather conditions
- Unstable drivetrain systems not removed from service
- Growing concern over automation and job displacement, including AI, robotics, and autonomous vehicles replacing human roles without safeguards for current workers
- Public records, including data from the Violation Tracker, indicate that Delta Air Lines has accumulated hundreds of penalties and violations totaling over $135 million, raising concerns about systemic accountability and compliance
CONCLUSION
We appreciate you and we are proud of the work that we do and the role we play in the success of Delta Air Lines as frontline employees. Addressing these concerns will not only improve employee morale and retention but also enhance the overall customer experience.
However, pride alone cannot sustain a workforce facing unsafe conditions, insufficient compensation, and growing instability.
We stand together to demand fair treatment, safe working conditions, and long-term job security.
Signed,
Delta ACS Workers and Supporters
