The Issue

Say no to Hate!!

OneBC has been making waves recently with their anti-Indigenous messages, spreading residential school denial and promoting the oppression of Indigenous rights around British Columbia. Our communities are facing a growing threat as OneBC gains support with pro-pipeline voters, creating pressure on British Columbians to agree to the Alberta pipeline.

In an effort to forward their agenda, OneBC has been targeting universities in British Columbia as grounds to spread residential school denialism.

Despite using their position of power to openly promote hate towards a specific group of British Columbians, our tax dollars are funding them. They have already accessed over $650,000 of tax payers dollars to fund their discriminatory rhetoric.

This has to stop!

Along with their shameful portrayal of Indigenous people,  OneBC is proposing changes that directly target our these communities:

- Ending veto power for Indigenous peoples, essentially stripping away their decision-making abilities regarding land and resources that have been theirs for centuries.
- Forcing members of reserves to assimilate into white society, obliterating cultural identities and obliterating traditions that have been sustained for generations.

-End Truth and Reconciliation measures

- Eradicate signage with traditional Indigenous languages in public spaces

-Abolish land acknowledgments

The spread of these harmful ideas not only undermines the progress we have made in affirming Indigenous rights but also perpetuates a dangerous rhetoric that threatens our very existence. It is alarming that such a party with divisive and discriminatory policies is gaining traction.

Enough is enough!!

We cannot stand idly by while a political entity promotes a vision of British Columbia that excludes the voices and rights of its original inhabitants. The dangers posed by ignoring these matters are not just theoretical or political; they are a real threat to the everyday lives and cultural heritage of Indigenous peoples in this province.

Statistics from reputable sources like Statistics Canada and Truth and Reconciliation Commission reports indicate that Indigenous communities in British Columbia already face significant challenges in achieving social and economic equity. Further marginalization and disenfranchisement will only exacerbate these issues and intensify existing disparities.

We call on the Province of BC and relevant authorities to stop using tax payers money to fund OneBC's hate. Defunding and then Deregistering the OneBC party would be a decisive step towards ensuring that British Columbia remains a safe province for all its citizens, where Indigenous rights are protected, and cultural diversity is celebrated.

Join us in upholding justice and rejecting the corrosive ideologies that seek to divide our society. Stand with us and sign this petition to demand the the defunding of the OneBC party.
