Enforce the 2018 Animal Welfare laws re dog boarding & dog daycare

Enforce the 2018 Animal Welfare laws re dog boarding & dog daycare

The Issue

This petition is from the legal and licensed dog carers of the UK.

In 2018 Defra brought in strict animal welfare regulations governing boarding and daycare for dogs.

Yet we are seeing, on a daily basis, unlicensed dog carers carrying on with impunity. We - the people that are complying with the laws and paying the sometimes expensive fees - have now had enough.

We regularly report these unlicensed dog carers to our local councils, the very offices that are charged with enforcing the laws and granting the licenses. Yet local councils are almost always ignoring these reports  and doing NOTHING.

This makes an utter mockery of our adherence to the regulations.

Why should we continue complying with the sometimes draconian rules and exorbitant fees - when so many others are allowed to ignore them, with no repercussions....?

We, the legal and licensed dog carers, are not going to continue unless action is taken and Defra ensures that our local councils enforce the animal welfare regulations.

In addition, we would also like to know why - given that the regulations were meant to usher in uniformity across the country - some of us are having to pay more than double the amount that others are being charged, for the license.
