Ban shock collars for dogs in the UK

Ban shock collars for dogs in the UK

The Issue

Shock collars (a type of e-collar) for dogs are collars that are worn around a dog's neck to deter certain behaviour by emitting electric shocks to the dog and is controlled by a remote control held by the dog's owner or trainer.  This is cruel to say the least.  Should a dog be subject to torture just for displaying its natural instincts?  Barking, jumping up or running around may be undesirable for dog owners but how can electrocuting a dog be the solution to this?  More often than not these collars are more harmful than helpful with many dogs experiencing stress, fear and even PTSD.  Not only could using these devices be dangerous to the dogs themselves, it could pose a threat towards humans too - the dogs could develop serious behavioural problems stemming from them feeling scared and frightened of the e-collars so may injure humans in their desperation.  This could result in the end of the dog's life all because the trainers used torturous methods in an attempt to train them.

This has to be stopped.  Boris Johnson has the ability to bring this issue into parliament and propose a ban on this awful torture device.  By pushing through we can finally change the minds of MPs who think shock collars are just a normal training aid and get the government to approve a complete ban on e-collars in the UK.  Wales already has this ban in place, so why can't the rest of the UK have it too?

Please sign this petition and share with friends or family.  Every signature we get can help e-collars become a thing of the past.  Thank you.
