DeFlock Delavan
The Issue
Over 100,000 Flock cameras have popped up around the country and they are now in Delavan. Flock is a surveillance system being used to track our movements in cars and has been implemented under the guise of aiding law enforcement in criminal investigations. What it also does is violate our privacy, the constitution and puts our neighbors at risk. There are over 1500 documented cases of ICE being granted access to FLOCK data, often without the approval or knowledge of local police departments. Flock is documented lying to and/or bribing the cities they enter contracts with to downplay what their systems are being used for. The company also has corrupt ties with the Trump Administration, Amazon and Peter Thiel. FLOCK cameras have also been used to track the movements of women seeking healthcare in neighboring states. The problem is agencies (inside and) outside of Delavan PD having warrantless access to us without our knowledge or consent, as our department has no way of knowing what information is being accessed or abused outside of their purview. With 500 signatures and enough community support we can end the FLOCK contract in Delavan! I'm trying to gather the required signatures by August 2nd so we can get on the General Operation Councils agenda August 4th to start this process. The budget is reviewed annually, we can get them out by 2027 and that is fast approaching! Flock contracts are being canceled everywhere with enough public pressure, even in Madison!
