Defend Stella - The Unjustly Accused Emotional Support Dog

The Issue

I am fighting for my beloved emotional support animal and family dog, Stella. Upon adopting Stella, who had chosen me as much as I had chosen her, we formed an unbreakable bond. She is a docile yet protective Chocolate Lab and has provided me immense love and companionship. Unfortunately, Stella is encountering a difficult situation and we need your help.

Despite having a gentle nature, Stella has unjustly been deemed as a "dangerous dog" by the city of Wauchula, Florida, spearheaded by the Wauchula police department. This entirely ungrounded claim is primarily coming from our neighbors. Stella, despite these false accusations, is a well-trained and loving canine who has never bitten a human being or another animal.

This unmerited categorization is not just an attack on Stella but also infringes on the rights of her owner - myself. As anyone who has had an emotional support animal knows, these animals are more than pets; they are essential elements of mental wellbeing. Stella and many other emotional support pets bear testimonial to the fact that ESAs help in alleviating symptoms of mental illnesses.

Stella's case is one among many cases of dogs being stigmatized and judged primarily based on false accusations. This not only impacts the dog, but also imposes undue mental pressure on the owner who views the pet as a significant part of their family. This fight isn't just for Stella, but for all other support animals and pets who face similar discrimination.

We implore the Wauchula police department and the city to reconsider their ill-founded decision. Let Stella live freely and without this unjust label. Stand with us, and sign this petition to save Stella and defend the rights of emotional support animals.
