Defend LAUSD's School Desegregation Programs!

Stop the racist attack on all efforts toward equal educational opportunity in LAUSD's predominantly Latina/ o school district!

A far-right-wing and racist pro-Trump organization, 1776 Project Foundation, has filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Central District of California, to end all LAUSD desegregation programs and efforts by the district to provide funding, enrichment programs or other resources to majority black and Latina/o schools. Trump's Department of Justice is seeking to be admitted in this case as a full party on the side of this racist effort.

BAMN is filing to become intervenors in this case representing students and families. That means we will be co-defendants in the case and will have our voices heard!

The lawsuit makes 3 false claims:

* That LAUSD denies equal educational opportunities to white students based on the district's efforts to provide additional funding and resources or other enrichment programs to majority Latina/o and black schools;

* That the district's busing and school desegregation programs must end now;

* That magnet school admissions criteria must rely predominantly on the use of standardized testing, which favors white students and systematically discriminates against Latina/o, black, women and immigrant students
