The Issue

Sign this petition to stop blasphemous performer Buck Wylde from appearing at Texas Christian University this Friday. I, the undersigned, am a male nursing student and political science minor at Texas Christian University, a God‑fearing and conservative student, a member of Turning Point USA (TPUSA), and a co‑founder of Young Americans for Freedom (YAF). I express my great dissatisfaction with campus activities at TCU that step on the very charter of our campus from 1873. TCU's founders established this university to "promote literary and scientific education" and to develop students of "character," with a "historical and intentional connection with a religious body, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), that embraces pluralism, rejects sectarian narrowness, encourages a reasoned faith and affirms the rights of informed individual conscience in religious preference."

The Disciples of Christ tradition that shaped TCU emphasizes that believers should turn "to God from idols to serve the living and true God" (1 Thessalonians 1:9). Scripture is clear that mocking the divine is a grave matter: "Whoever blasphemes the name of the Lord shall surely be put to death" (Leviticus 24:16), and our Lord Himself warned, "whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin" (Mark 3:29).

In March 2019, Spectrum, an LGBTQ organization, hosted drag performer "Buck Wylde," who performed as the devil himself alongside other disturbing satanic imagery, funded by the university and featured on the front page of the TCU Skiff. Now, "Buck Wylde" is making an appearance at Texas Christian University this Friday. While we cannot confirm his exact costume for this event, he has previously dressed up as Jesus Christ on his own instagram to mock our Lord and Savior. Given his past pattern of behavior, I am appalled that the student body exhibits an uncaring attitude toward the potential for this egregious disrespect to Christianity. We are not merely tolerating potential blasphemy; as a university, we are funding it, promoting it, and opening our doors to this great evil.

As a God‑fearing Christian, I cannot tolerate this any longer. I call on Texas Christian University to cancel this performance immediately and uphold our Christian principles.
