We, the undersigned residents, rate payers, visitors neighbouring towns of Nelson, Victoria, are deeply concerned about the proposed removal of all FFMV firefighters and their equipment from our town. This decision puts our community, homes, and holidaymakers at extreme fire risk during the summer months.

For decades, the presence of FFMV firefighters and their rapid response capabilities have been vital to our safety. With the Glenelg National Park, surrounding pine and blue gum plantations, the potential for devastating fires is ever-present. The immediate access to a firefighting crew is our first line of defense, significantly reducing response times and protecting lives.

We implore DEECA to reconsider this plan. The safety of our community is at stake, and we need the Summer Crew and their fire tanks to remain in Nelson.
