Decriminalize this Native Plant in the Pueblos

The Issue

Cannibis prohibition is a costly and failed policy that uses up police resources that would be better used solving and preventing violent crimes. In Apache country our cancer rates have sky rocketed over the toxic environments that have stricken a good portion of our lands in Arizona. For a medicinal herb that helps many of our elderly with their arthritis, nutrition, seizures, and with many side effects of prescriptions; to finally be available to the people allowing them the freedom to nurture their health back without being subjected to criminalized ruling. So far 17 states and many cities have decriminalized marijuana - We urge the New Mexico Pueblos to help us create a strong stance on the reintroduction of this Native Plant!

Polls show that a majority of Americans agree that it's time to change marijuana laws: CNN found 84% support not sending people to jail for small amounts of marijuana and a Gallup poll found 58% support for legalizing marijuana altogether. Decriminalizing marijuana would result in saved tax dollars, more police resources, and no criminal records for young people that can make it difficult for them to get a job or apply for financial aid for college. It's a common sense approach. The state of Colorrado has already seen the incredible results in what was a meth stricken communities now showing improvement in not only a decrease in hard drugs and DUI's but also a boost in economy!

Please help decriminalize marijuana on the Pueblos by signing this petition!
