Decriminalize Psychedelic Therapy Treatment in Florida

Decriminalize Psychedelic Therapy Treatment in Florida
The Issue
Our mental health crisis is at a record high. This is proving that SSRIS, SNRIS and Antipsychotics are not helping with the larger majority of people struggling with mental health problems, while Psychadelics are proving to show SIGNIFICANT relief for those suffering from anxiety, addiction, trauma, Post Partum Depression, PTSD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, depression, OCD, Treatment Resistant Depression and more.
Depression Statistics 2025 (Single Care Jan. 29 2025)
The leading cause of disability in the United States among individuals ages 15–44 years is depression (Anxiety & Depression Association of America). The rates of major depressive episodes were highest in young adults ages 18–25 years (20.1%) in 2022, whereas people ages 50 years and older had the lowest rates of major depressive episodes (4.6%) (SAMHSA, 2023) • 15.9 million adults had a major depressive episode with severe impairment in 2022. (SAMHSA, 2023)
(University of Michigan 2023). Rates of depression and suicidal ideation have reached an all-time high among college students, with 44% of students reporting depression symptoms and 15% reporting suicidal thoughts in the 2021-2022 academic year. The rates of depression among U.S. adults of all ages have been rising. In 2023, 29% of adults reported receiving a depression diagnosis at some time during their lives, compared with 19.6% in 2015 (Gallup 2023)
In one of the first major studies on the efficacy of Dimethyltryptamine (NN-DMT) in treating ANY mental health condition showed a remission rate of 57% following a single dose, in a Phase II trial for major depressive disorder.
Even though there are zero documented deaths from the use of DMT, and it has been scientifically proven “non habit” forming or addictive, it is a Schedule I drug, while Fentanyl, Meth, Cocaine, and Oxycodone are Schedule II. And yet Fentanyl is the reason for 107,000 deaths in 2024.
Ibogaine: (Texas Ibogaine Initiative)
Opioid exposure terminates the brain’s organic ability to produce the body’s baseline survival chemicals – dopamine and serotonin. Decades of open label clinical studies have produced an abundance of observational data which suggest that a psychoactive alkaloid called ibogaine resolves opioid withdrawal syndrome within 48 to 72 hours when properly administered in a clinically controlled medical setting. It has the singular unique ability to clear and reset the brain’s opioid receptors while also restoring the brain’s organic dopamine and serotonin production to pre-opioid exposure levels – a process which doesn’t otherwise begin to occur until a person has been completely abstinent for 18 months.
MM-120 (LSD)
In March 2024, the FDA granted breakthrough designation to a form of LSD (MM-120) to treat generalized anxiety disorder based on data from a clinical trial. Current anxiety treatments, mainly selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and benzodiazepines, have limitations, including delayed onset and potential side effects. In contrast, MM120 has demonstrated rapid and long-lasting effects. Phase 2 studies showed significant anxiety reduction as early as the day after a single dose, with benefits lasting up to 12 weeks. Researchers also observed a greater effect size compared to SSRIs, suggesting MM120 could offer a more potent and efficient alternative.(Psychiatric Times 2025)
Psylocibin, psilocyn, 5-MEO DMT, NN-Dimethyltryptamine, Ibogaine, Bufo, and Mescaline are natural substances that grow from our own soil and within animals However, the concept that these are all considered dangerous in most states, including here in Florida, is outdated and unproven and is limiting our access to LIFE CHANGING treatment that causes debilitating symptoms. Individuals from all walks of life can benefit from psychedelic therapy and treatment. Tens of thousands of people all over the United States are having to source psilocybin, DMT, 5meo DMT, LSD and other psychedelic substances and risking legal consequences because they are entirely unavailable under a controlled environment. This is because these substances are so incredibly affective and have changed so many lives. Including my own.
There is a stigma of illegitimacy about these substances without any proven evidence to justify why they belong as a Schedule I substance. On the other hand, there are states and other countries already using psychedelic therapy today.
A review of psychedelics as therapeutic options for diagnoses like mood and anxiety disorders noted that psychedelics “generally have low physiological toxicity, safe psychological responses, low addictive/dependence potential, low chance of neurological deficits after use and no associated persisting adverse physiological effects during or after use.”- MindMed
These substances are not band aids. They are MIRACLES. They can be the one thing that saves a life.
At age 13 I was misdiagnosed with Bipolar by a licensed Psychiatrist, and again at age 23 when I sought out help after 4 months of dealing with PPD. I was given a mood stabilizer without any kind of evaluation from another licensed Psychiatrist. This mood stabilizer caused negative side affects such a delusion, pmdd, and induced hysterical rage, that quickly lead me to substance abuse and uncharacteristic behavior. This happened to me one more time with a 3rd Psychiatrist. Being that I was so young and desperate for relief, I finally gave in to the idea that I was, in fact, Bipolar. Not realizing that the medications I was being prescribed played one of the biggest rolls in a 10 year battle with myself. I am a mother of 2 and a wife. I am your neighbor and you are mine. I was fortunate enough to experience the healing power of psychedelics, including LSD, Psilocybin, and Dimethyltryptamine. After 6 months of Psilocybin therapy, I knew there was no purpose to my medication. 3 1/2 years later I have yet to experience any Bipolar related symptoms. I am proactive, driven, and most importantly, happy again. I have learned to prioritize my stresses, be there with my children and enjoy being in the moment. I felt like I grew up 10 years in just 1. I no longer sit in darkness and rely on controlled substances to live my life for me. I love my life. I truly can say that I LOVE my life and I love myself again. Please consider those just like me. And the many other all around us that are currently drowning in darkness and desperately searching for themselves again.
