Declassify Islam as a religion in the United States

The Issue

I am deeply concerned about the growing influence of Islam in the United States, which I believe poses a significant threat to the values and principles outlined in the U.S. Constitution. Islam is often presented as a peaceful religion, yet its adherence to Sharia Law—an authoritarian and all-encompassing legal system—raises troubling questions about its compatibility with fundamental American democratic values such as freedom of speech, gender equality, and the separation of church and state.

Sharia Law, integral to Islamic practice, dictates every facet of a Muslim's life and extends into the political realm as well. It prescribes severe punishments, controls people's behaviors, and imposes limitations on individual freedoms—often in ways starkly conflicting with the liberties cherished in American society. In many countries where Sharia is implemented, freedoms of minorities, women, and dissenters are highly restricted, leading to a range of human rights violations.

Our nation was founded on the principle of religious freedom, but it is crucial to differentiate between a faith that promotes peace and a political ideology that aims toward theocracy and domination. The ultimate goal espoused by many radical leaders within Islam is to establish a caliphate, disrupting Western democracies and the values we hold dear. Such ideologies are inherently incompatible with the American spirit of democracy and freedom that we cherish.

To address this urgent issue, I propose a comprehensive review and reclassification of Islam as a political ideology rather than a religion. This measure would not infringe upon the rights of individuals who wish to practice their faith peacefully but rather aim to curtail the political aspirations of extremist factions that threaten our democratic way of life.

Reevaluating the designation of Islam in this manner would allow our government and communities to better discern and manage those elements within Islamic practice that pose genuine threats to public safety and the Constitution's values without unfairly targeting peaceful practitioners. It would be a step towards safeguarding our democracy and ensuring that the principles of liberty, justice, and equality endure for future generations.

I urgently call upon you to support this petition to protect and preserve the constitutional values that define our great nation. We must act now to secure the freedoms afforded to us by our forefathers and ensure a future where those freedoms remain unchallenged. Sign this petition to begin a meaningful dialogue about how we can uphold America's foundational values while addressing contemporary challenges.
