If you think the NRA's recent endorsement of banning 'bump-stock' modifications signals an opening for sensible gun control, you should read this informed piece in the NY Times. Not only would this cynical measure fail to prevent other simple weapon conversions, it targets only the cheapest way to do so. I would add what seems obvious, that this move is designed to stimulate the market for more expensive guns and modification kits while allowing the NRA to claim it's being sensible about gun control. Don't be fooled. It's the same NRA, looking to protect the profits of gun manufacturers while the rest of us dodge bullets.
