A past statement by Mr. Trump on the Paris Climate Agreement, in which he called climate change a "hoax," is particularly striking for Australia—a country grappling with the effects of climate change, as illustrated by the devastating 2019-2020 bushfire crisis which destroyed 46 million acres of land, claimed 34 lives, and caused an estimated $103 billion loss.
