As a recent graduate and concerned citizen of Bangladesh, I have witnessed appalling violence inflicted on peaceful protesters by 'Chatro League', a student Militia group of our government. In last 2 weeks, over 200 peaceful students, including children and minors, striving for reformation in the government job reservation system, were brutally killed by this Militia and Bangladesh's state security forces. This is the official death toll confirmed by the Bangladeshi government who ordered such brutal crackdown on the student protesters. The actual death toll is expected to be much higher. This horrifying situation began on July 15th, showing no signs of stopping. Chatro League members have participated in the murder, assault, and intimidation of innocent students and civilians countrywide, despite having no jurisdiction. The intensity and frequency of these violent occurrences indeed have a resemblance to acts of terror. It is our duty as witnesses, and it's the international community's responsibility, to not stand idle during this reign of terror but call it as it is - terrorism. Help us in this initiative to stop this bloodshed and violence. It's high time to formally declare the 'Chatro League' the extremist and armed student wing of the Bangladesh government as a terrorist organization.
