Declare a park in Kingston as the Micronation FORSD
The Issue
About the Founders and the Creation of Forsd
We are Francis, Odyseus, Rana, Dyson, and Seth—five friends, collaborators, and curious citizens of the world who have come together to found a symbolic, artistic, and cultural micronation called Forsd, located within Champlain Park in Kingston, Ontario.
Forsd was born from long walks, deep conversations, shared laughter, and a growing sense that public spaces can—and should—be more than just patches of land with benches and signs. We asked ourselves: What would happen if we created a space where imagination was the law of the land? A place where stories, symbolism, and self-expression were not just allowed but celebrated?
Forsd is our answer to that question.
What Is Forsd?
Forsd is a micronation, but not in the traditional geopolitical sense. We are not seeking to secede or to claim sovereignty in a legal or confrontational way. Instead, Forsd exists in the tradition of symbolic nation-building—an art project, social experiment, and playful act of creative defiance that challenges the way we think about identity, belonging, land, and community.
Our homeland is Champlain Park, a beautiful and under-celebrated green space in the heart of Kingston. We have designated a specific area of the park as the symbolic territory of Forsd—its capital, its heart, and its meeting ground.
Micronations like Forsd exist all over the world—from the Principality of Sealand to the Republic of Užupis in Lithuania—and each one offers a unique lens through which to explore questions of autonomy, imagination, and cultural space. We see Forsd as part of that lineage: a small but sincere nation of ideas.
Our Philosophy
At its core, Forsd is built on five guiding values, shaped by each of its founders:
Francis brings the grounding of memory and community. He sees Forsd as a way to honor the local and the personal, the overlooked beauty of shared spaces.
Odyseus is the dream-mapper, always asking “what if?” and charting bold futures for our territory and our people.
Rana provides the emotional compass of Forsd, advocating for empathy, care, and the spiritual energy of collective culture.
Dyson is the architect of symbolism—creating flags, borders, and objects that make Forsd feel real, alive, and tactile.
Seth is our storyteller and diplomat, giving Forsd its voice and inviting others into the project with clarity and humor.
Together, we believe that a park can be more than a place to walk your dog or sit on a bench—it can be a sovereign space of the imagination, a place where the rules of play and creativity can reshape how we see ourselves and each other.
Why We’re Petitioning
We are petitioning to have Forsd recognized as a symbolic, cultural micronation within Champlain Park—not as a challenge to Canada’s authority, but as an artistic and communal initiative. We want the City of Kingston, local residents, and curious citizens around the world to acknowledge Forsd as a cultural installation, a living artwork, and a symbolic territory that contributes positively to public space, community engagement, and local culture.
Recognition would allow us to:
Host peaceful events, storytelling circles, and community gatherings in our symbolic territory
Install non-permanent signs or art markers (with permission) to define Forsd’s “borders”
Engage schools, artists, and residents in creative programming
Build an online presence that connects local creativity with global micronational culture
We do not seek to block access, damage property, or cause disruption. Forsd is non-intrusive, playful, and welcoming. It’s a space of inclusion, not exclusion—a way to make public parks feel more public.
What You Can Do
By signing this petition, you support the recognition of Forsd as:
A symbolic nation grounded in peaceful expression and artistic freedom
A community initiative that sparks joy, thought, and creativity
A pilot project for reimagining public space through symbolic citizenship and playful sovereignty
Join us in bringing Forsd to life. Help us write this new chapter in Kingston’s cultural story—one where imagination has its own territory, and creativity has a home.
Let’s build a country together—if only for a park bench and a summer breeze.
Welcome to Forsd
