Declare a National Emergency on Cold Case Homicides

Declare a National Emergency on Cold Case Homicides
The Issue
To the President of the United States and the “Make America Safe Again” Task Force:
We, the undersigned citizens of the United States, stand together to demand immediate national action on the growing crisis of unsolved homicides, commonly known as Cold Cases.
Across our nation, there are over 300,000 unsolved murders. Every case represents a family living in anguish, victims denied justice, and dangerous offenders who remain free to harm others. This is not only a matter of justice, but of public safety and national security.
We respectfully call upon the President and the “Make America Safe Again” group to declare an emergency on Cold Case Homicides and to take the following urgent actions:
1. Establish a National Cold Case Task Force to coordinate resources and expertise across all jurisdictions.
2. Expand and fund additional forensic laboratories to address massive backlogs and accelerate DNA testing.
3. Ensure oversight and accountability for medical examiners, forensic specialists, and investigators handling cold cases.
4. Strengthen U.S. Marshals and federal partnerships to track and apprehend fugitives connected to unsolved homicides.
5. Provide funding for state and local law enforcement agencies dedicated to solving cold cases.
Each solved case delivers justice to victims, closure to families, and makes America safer for all. We cannot wait another decade while thousands of killers walk free. We urge you to declare Cold Case Homicides a National Emergency now and take decisive action.
