Petition updateDecathlon must stop promoting slaughter of songbirds and migratory birdsChristmas, 60,000 signatures, and a ray of hope!

As our campaign passes another astonishing milestone of 60,000 signatures, there’s a glimpse of an opening to dialogue, with the offer of a meeting with Decathlon’s senior UK management.
Chris Gilroy (Marketing Communications Director) and Eric Mazillier (CEO) have committed to continue dialogue in the new year, and confirmed - "We will work with you to understand your position more and how to protect our wildlife and environment more."

This offer of direct communication can only be taken as positive, and while we won’t be breaking out any champagne yet, it has to be good to talk. I’ve no doubt at all that this would not have happened without the backing of all 60,000 of you so thank you again for your support.

Although Decathlon has yet to have the courtesy to formally acknowledge your concerns, let alone the courage to address them, this opportunity to speak openly is welcomed, so things will go a bit quiet here for a while to let the dialogue take its course and hopefully drive  positive outcomes. With the expertise and backing of the Wild Justice and Onekind teams, we will continue to plan and explore options the campaign in 2021, however we now have the chance to explain to Decathlon the many opportunities for cooperation if they are prepared to modernise, not just the pressure which will otherwise be escalated.

I’ll also continue to explore the links and funding behind Decathlon’s apologists at Act4Nature and OREE, and the worrying involvement of WWF and the IUCN, but again won’t be publishing anything until every opportunity to work directly with Decathlon has been taken.

So thank you again for your support, I wish you a safe and happy Christmas and every hope for better things ahead in 2021.
