Hello everyone,

This is Brenda Tracy. I have a huge favor to ask you, but first I’d like to update you on the status of banning violent athletes in NCAA sports. Thanks to your support, I was appointed to the NCAA Commission to Combat Campus Sexual Violence. I sat on that Commission for two years and I pushed hard to get the NCAA to ban violent athletes. I pushed so hard that the Commission reported my work to the NCAA Board of Governors saying, “an issue on which the Commission spent considerable time was individual accountability of student-athletes in acts of sexual violence.” Unfortunately, the Board of Governors still disbanded the Commission. This was an extremely upsetting outcome, but the fight is not over! Our athletic departments and conferences don’t have to wait on the NCAA to do the right thing. They can implement these policies on their own.

So, here’s my ask of you - I have partnered with Cody McDavis, a former D1 athlete and activist, on a new petition. We are asking the five most powerful conference Commissioners to ban violent athletes and we need your signatures. Will you sign now?

The Big Sky athletic conference has already implemented a comprehensive policy that every other conference in the country could easily adopt. The heavy lifting has already been done. Now it’s just a matter of getting other conferences to adopt the policy, and the first step to making this happen begins with your signature. Once you’ve signed, please share the petition with as many people as you can.

Thank you for your continued support!

Brenda Tracy
