Hello everyone! This is Brenda Tracy. As you already know, it was the Baylor sexual assault scandal that prompted my son to write to the NCAA and begin this petition to ban violent athletes. Just this last Monday, August 25th, I was at Baylor and I spoke to the men's football and basketball teams! It wasn't an easy talk, but I did it and I feel like it went really well. And thanks to all of you... we are headed to Indianapolis to deliver your petition signatures to the NCAA Headquarters!! The delivery will happen August 3rd, the same day that the Board of Governors meets. On the 21st of this month I met with two NCAA leaders in Chicago and we discussed my ideas for how the NCAA could and should deal with violent athletes. During the Board of Governors meeting next week my ideas and our petition will be discussed. It is my hope that the Board of Governors will vote to convene a task force that would be responsible for creating policies to deal with violent athletes. This could be a major first step in addressing this issue and we could not have done it without all of you! Darius and I are so grateful for your support! Recently, I did a short phone chat with staff from change.org and I was asked "What does this petition mean to you personally?" I immediately began to cry because in 1998 I had no one - literally. Every person and every system that was supposed to support me and protect me - didn't. But today I have 156,000 people who support me.... I can't even tell you how much that means to me. Thank you so much for caring about survivors. Thank you for donating to our fundraiser and thank you for your tireless support of me and my son Darius. We are truly grateful! Sincerely, Brenda Tracy
