Hi everyone, It's been a busy couple of weeks, but I am so pleased and thankful for how we're moving forward together with this campaign. We've had some good developments of late. My mom and I are continuing to conduct media interviews with various outlets to keep attention on this issue across the country. Check out the one from CBS Sports show "We Need to Talk." It's thanks to your signature that we're able to have these great opportunities! Our conversations with the NCAA remain ongoing as well. President Mark Emmert and my mom had a productive phone call last week. Also, our friend Cody, who is an It's On Us (http://itsonus.org/) ambassador, met with the NCAA last week to discuss our campaign among other things. Cody is a former student-athlete who has been raising awareness of sexual assault on college campuses for several years. I wanted to let you hear more about his thoughts coming out of that meeting. Here's what he had to say: "Hi! My name is Cody McDavis and I have been working with the NCAA for a few years, beginning in my college days as a student-athlete, on various topics. On Monday, June 27th, I had the opportunity to meet with several high level NCAA executives in Indianapolis to discuss the opportunity to implement an ad-hoc committee with membership wide influence that would specifically focus on further driving change within the student-athlete culture when it comes to sexual violence through utilizing the vast amount of resources available to the NCAA. This idea was extremely well taken by the staff and they are actively hammering out the details. I believe the reason this idea was so well received was because of the work Brenda, her son Darius, and many others have been doing nationwide. Not to mention the 130,000+ petition signers who have backed their calling, myself included! I am excited to move forward with the NCAA in further recognizing the many calls to action when it comes to sexual assault reform, including Brenda's. This is an exciting time and I am so glad to see Brenda's call-to-action get such traction within the NCAA!" My mom and I are so grateful to Cody for bringing more attention right to the people who can make the change we want to see happen. This energy and momentum are great, but we must sustain them. Will you please keep sharing our petition so we can keep spreading the word? Tell people to go to: www.change.org/banviolentathletes and sign it! We'll be in touch soon. Thank you, Darius
