Everyday, countless Americans are denied life-saving healthcare treatments by insurance companies more focused on profits than patients. These denials have catastrophic consequences: unnecessary deaths, lifelong injuries, bankruptcies, and shattered families.

The numbers are shocking:

UnitedHealthcare denies 33% of in-network claims, the highest among major insurers.

Molina Healthcare denies 26% of in-network claims, leaving families in crisis.

Anthem and Medica both deny 23% of in-network claims, forcing patients to pay out-of-pocket or go without care.

Aetna, another giant, rejects over 22% of in-network claims

Imagine a child diagnosed with a life-threatening illness like leukemia. If their insurance provider is UnitedHealthcare, there’s a 1-in-3 chance their treatment could be denied, leaving families to choose between financial ruin and their child’s life.

3. Patient Protections: Prohibit medical bankruptcies resulting from denied claims and ensure universal access to emergency care.

4. Comprehensive Reform: Legislate transparency in claim review processes, ensuring patients understand why care is denied.

No one should lose their life or financial stability because of an insurance company’s decision to protect profits over patients.
