Maple Ridge Public School Boundary Reallignment for English Students
Maple Ridge Public School Boundary Reallignment for English Students
The Durham District School Board currently has a proposal tabled for the Standing Committee to change the boundary alignment for English Students currently enrolled at Maple Ridge Public School in Pickering, Ontario. The proposal will realign the students to Vaughan Willard Public School and make Maple Ridge Public School a French Immersion only school (currently dual track). The current proposal can be viewed here: https://calendar.ddsb.ca/calendars/Detail/2020-01-06-1900-Standing-Committee-Meeting/28e56673-d584-452c-b4a7-ab3700b6a43e
The proposal does not address the following:
- Impact to families and the change they will be required to make
- Financial Impact to the DDSB Budget
- Environmental Impact due to the need for additional busses and changes to Vaughan Willard property
- Health impacts by forcing students and families to use bussing instead of walking to and from school
We encourage you to review the proposal and sign the petition to decline the proposal. The proposal will impact over 150 families in the Maple Ridge Community and does not provide future families from having the choice to send their children to their local Public School for an English program.
