Port Perry High School has released new restrictions upon its students, particularly regarding outdoor walks during mandatory breaks. Outdoor walks are meant to be one clockwise lap around the school, five minutes at most, with increased restrictive measures. On top of this, students are being unnecessarily dress-coded, followed into washrooms, and physically searched (patted down) without cause. This causes students to feel violated, uncomfortable, and unsafe. The restrictions on safe outdoor walks is the final straw. COVID-19 has taken such a toll on mental health, especially in teens, and extra restrictions only add to the stress and fear.
