In response to another recent article on Somerset Live (https://www.somersetlive.co.uk/news/somerset-news/residents-east-huntspill-petition-council-1441327), Hook 2 Sisters (H2S) has admitted in its statement that there is an odour issue and is attempting to address it. However, nothing it proposes will do anything to remove the odour issue or tackle the welfare of the poor chickens. There are no surprises in the H2S statement but I do take exception to the comment about wanting to be a positive benefit to the local economy; without some form of cash ‘bribe’, it’s difficult to see how that could happen. It’s not as if they employ a whole bunch of people from the local area; much of the operation is automated and what isn’t, is dealt with by outside contractors. Because of the odour and adverse visual impact on the countryside, tourist-dependent local businesses are suffering from lost bookings, which in turn means reduced spend in the local area. The only way this situation can be resolved without any residual negative impact on the local area is if the operation is closed down (it shouldn’t have been approved in the first place!). Thank you once again for your support; justice can prevail so please keep sharing the petition and encourage other like-minded people to sign it too. Thank you! :-)
