So its now Fall and I have just spent the last week in the same forest deemed as "Devastated" by the Bud Worm by the DNR. I have put some pictures together that I took from all along the Cable Lake Road but only of the portion of the forest which is marked for CLEAR CUT, i'm sure the DNR will cut the balance of the forest after they are through with this portion. I was told by a forester (logger) that the DNR/GOV will only profit a few thousand dollars off this timber sale because the timber will be hard to access and it's a relatively young forest, that's like a deer hunter shooting fawns, (might as well kill'em now they will just die someday), so how greedy is that! Stupid, Stupid, Stupid, thats all I can say! As it can be plainly seen there is a lush green forest and the hardwoods are just beginning to turn the beautiful fall colors which everyone who visits the U.P comes to see. We need to convince the DNR and Powers to be that this way of thinking (Cutting Down PUBLIC Forest's in the name of profit was not the intended use DNR and is not PUBLIC's best interest to destroy OUR land in the name of profit. Over the past two weeks I have been in contact with; Environmental Law & Policy Center, EarthJustice, Sierra Club and Michigan Environmental Council. If any of the Supporters of this petition are members of the Sierra Club please contact the Michigan Chapter and voice your complaint. Like with everything the more voices that are heard the better chance we have of accomplishing are goal of saving the Forests from unbridled mismanagement and the sale of the forests for profit. I see that the number of people signing the petition is slowing. I really need everyone to get there friends, family co-workers etc.. to sign so I can jam this petition down their throats. I am not stopping so please dont stop either I really need your help. Thank you all so much, Dave Rassel
