Ban private fireworks use in Aotearoa!

Ban private fireworks use in Aotearoa!
Why this petition matters

I would really like to see fireworks finally banned for personal use in our beautiful country in 2019 and would love your help with this!
These are the main reasons as I see it to ban private use of fireworks in Aotearoa;
1. Health and safety risk to the public
2. Unnecessary risk and burden to our hard working fire fighting teams
3. Distress caused to wildlife including native birds etc
4. Distress caused to pets and farm animals
5. Totally unnecessary waste and air pollution at a time when we really need to be focusing 100% on reducing both these things to give our planet and children a future
We live near Mt Wellington in Auckland and every year people are up the mountain setting off fireworks which has this year again led to a fire on our lovely mountain. I know this happens all over the country and sadly is not unique. Let's put an end to this problem!
I feel like every year just after guy fawkes the nation talks about the need to ban them but every year nothing happens. This year can we make it happen please?
I will be submitting this petition to Rt Hon David Parker, Minister for the Environment once complete. Let's make 2019 the year we finally achieve a ban on fireworks!
Please help by signing then asking your friends, family, colleagues and any passers by to sign too! Strength in numbers.
