Cameron Redpath started this petition to @CatSmithMP @LancasterCityCouncil @EricaLewis @LancashireCountyCouncil and

My name is Cameron Redpath, I am 19 years old and a wheelchair user. As many of you know Lancaster is a very historic City, that being said goes with the pavements of Lancaster.

Most pavements in Lancaster either have no dropped kerb to get off or on to which then you have to start looking for the nearest one which sometimes can be much further away. Secondly, kerbs that are cracked/ split or simply raised can cause a dangerous hazard to many wheelchair/pram users.

I know just how bad they can be when on Thursday 25th February 2021 I had an accident in my wheelchair after my kerb climber got lodged in a raised kerb on Keswick Road which instantly tipped my wheelchair up and on its side with me in it. Luckily people were about to help me up and make sure that I was OK having only sustained mild bruises and scratches. This could of been much worse however this was the second time an incident had happened like this with first one being in July of last year with a similar situation.

That is why to prevent any other incident from happening I have set this petition up to get support from the people of Lancaster to put a stop to this once and for all and make sure our pavements are looked after just like our roads are as why should they be left out and not checked upon to cause accidents!
