As a pet owner and avid animal lover, I'm sickened by the amount of animal abuse that I read about in the news. I strongly feel that this is a topic that needs strict regulation and monitoring. I, for one, would absolutely want to know if an animal abuser moves in next door to me and my pets. That's why I believe animal abusers should have to register as such just as sex offenders do. I also feel that animal abusers shouldn't get an opportunity to have pets again and should be mandated to undergo psychiatric evaluation or some other form of therapy. These people clearly are not in the right frame of mind to perform these heinous acts of violence. I believe if this issue gets enough recognition and support, that together we can make a difference in this country for not only us, but also for our furry friends.
