Petition updateDavid Cameron: The Winterbourne View Scandal continues. Take responsibility and take action.Still no progress: time to step up the action

The last few weeks have seen more updates from the NHS and government around Winterbourne View.
What they show is that over 3,000 people with a learning disability are still stuck in units like Winterbourne. That, on average, people are spending nearly 5 and a half years in these units. And that 55% of these people had experienced one or more incident of self-harm, assault, restraint or seclusion in the last three months.
These findings are harrowing for the thousands of people with a learning disability and their families living with this reality. Day in, day out.
One such parent who is fed up with the lack of progress is Ann. Ann’s son, Simon, lived at Winterbourne View. He was repeatedly physically and emotionally abused. Although he now lives back in the community he loves, he has never been the same.
Now, Ann has taken a stand on behalf of Simon and the thousands of other families who have been separated when loved ones were sent away to units.
So far, David Cameron has ignored our collective call for action. Will you join Ann in calling on all three of the main party leaders to bring people with a learning disability back to their communities so they can get the support they deserve? For whoever forms the next Government, addressing this crisis must be a top priority.
