David Cameron: The Winterbourne View Scandal continues. Take responsibility and take action.

Three years ago, we all watched in horror as BBC Panorama exposed appalling abuse of people with a learning disability at Winterbourne View, an assessment and treatment unit in Bristol.
We were all promised change. But three years on, the situation is even worse. You can read our report here.
Over 3,250 people with a learning disability are still stuck in units in England. In fact, more people are going into units than are leaving. People like 13 year old Josh who is stuck 260 miles away from his family.
Imagine if that was your son, daughter, brother or sister?
After the Winterbourne View scandal, the government shared in our horror and put an action plan in place. They promised local areas would develop the right support and services and move people out of units like Winterbourne.
Yesterday, the government failed to meet its own deadline for bringing people back. They broke their promise.
The government is failing thousands of people with a learning disability and their families. 90% of people in units don’t even have a date to move out.
Join us and call on Prime Minister David Cameron to take responsibility for this failure. Call on him to fulfil the promise made to get the right support, in the right place, for each and every person with a learning disability. We can’t just stand back and let another Winterbourne View happen.
