Hi, my name is Elliott Hinchliffe, I am a pre testosterone and surgery transgender male. In the United kingdom transgender people have to wait until the age of eighteen to even speak to a transgender psychiatrist about their struggles as a transgender person and then later be given an opportunity to get into a what is usually a two year waiting list for hormone replacement therapy and usually have to wait even longer for what surgeries they need to be content and comfortable living as theirself in society. However, in some states of America transgender individuals of any age(under eighteen) Can speak to a therapist and with parental consent can then receive hormone replacement therapy and surgeries, meaning they can live as a transgender person before late in their twenties like a lot of transgender people living in the united kingdom are. My goal is to get through to the British government and Simon Stevens (CEO of the NHS) To lower the age for hormone replacement therapy and different surgeries transgender people can chose to receive before the age of eighteen. This will mean less hate crimes towards transgender people in public and particularly in toilets, violence will lessen because transgender people can 'pass' better in public and people will think no differently of them. This will be one step closer to a trans accepting society in every part of the united kingdom.
