Save Spud

Save Spud
The Issue
On The 5th March 2015 West midlands police seized my dog Spud on the grounds he looks like an illegal breed ‘pit bull’.
When I brought spud as a puppy I was told he was a Cross bull dog. Over the past three years, he has never shown any signs of aggression and has been a loving, faithful, family dog to me and my eleven year old son Daniel.
I have been told by WMP that spud will undergo tests to see if he is a pit bull. These tests are done by measurements.. The length of his legs and the width of his muzzle. These dimensions and ratios could fit many dogs that are definitely not genetically a pit bull.
I am still waiting to hear back off WMP regarding the tests but nevertheless, these laws need to be changed. How can it be justified that a dog is sentenced to death by what a tape measure proves. Should it not be down to the owner to prove he is not a dangerous dog?
