This week our cat was involved in a hit and run accident near our house. Thankfully he has made it through, but only after a great deal of distress and a hefty vet's bill.   This incident follows a spate of deliberate attacks in our area where a driver has been identified specifically targeting cats and running them over. This morning my twelve year old daughter has discovered yet another cat on the side of the road with a broken spine. This one didn't make it. Currently in the UK you are required to report any injury to the following animals if you hit them: dogs, horses, cattle, pigs, goats, sheep, donkeys and mules but there is nothing to protect cats. This petition is to ask David Cameron to make it a legal requirement to report any road traffic incident involving a cat.  We in Britain are meant to be a nation of pet lovers, yet we do very little to protect them. We ask David Cameron to take this seriously so our pets can be safer.
