The Issue

my best friend was falsely accused of rape. he is currently serving a 6 year sentence. it took 2 years to get to trial and he was treated by everybody as a guilty man from the start. the trial lasted 5 days due to holes in the victims evidence and key pieces of evidence lost by the cps and the victims solicitor, key witnesses gone awol. my best friend was handcuffed to a prison guard everytime he entered court and when he took the stand. she wasn't. she had protection, hot drinks on tap, a private room and a screen during giving her evidence while my best friend was paraded for all to see and made to wait between court in a public café where the victims partner and family were able to walk past and intimidate him.  the fact they were in a relationship was made null and void. my best friends details were given freely to a newspaper reporter who sat in on all the proceedings and plastered all over the local news. what happened to innocent until proven guilty?. awful, farcical, terrible way to treat him. he was seen as guilty from the start. what about HIS human rights?. she had hers. david Cameron openly admits 8-10% of rape cases are falsely accused men. if the police did their jobs correctly, this shouldn't happen. my best friend is someones son, someones brother and someones partner. how would you feel if it was your son, brother or partner in this position?. its no wonder most genuine rape victims refuse to come forward. my best friend was interviewed under caution by 2 women. 2 women!!!!. if it was the other way around, there is no way a woman would be allowed to be interviewed by 2 men!!!!.

his life is now in tatters. a constant cloud now forever hanging over his head. this HAS to change to stop all these innocent men being sentenced to prison. bring in lie detector tests. that would sort out guilty from not guilty once and for all.
