United We Stand - Join this petition as we stop Labour Party Led Croydon Council from this continued inequality, to retract their decision and give this dilapidated building back to the preferred bidder for their Community Charity Works.

The Issue

United We Stand- Join the petition as we stop Croydon Council from treating this Christian Charity unfairly!!!

Help us stop Croydon Council taking away our Community Centre & Place of Worship and giving this Public Asset to a Political Activist group.

A Christian Charity group won a public tender in December 2013 for the use of the Former Ashburton Library in Croydon after approval from full Council Meeting, Cabinet Meetings and Corporate Services Committee. The charities full intended use of the building is for  a community centre with activities ranging from; Youth Club, Daycare Centre, Employability & Training Scheme, Place of Worship, Elderly Lunch Club, Mobility Project, Café, Family Contact Centre and Homeless Project… plus much more.

We paid the agreed premium plus a large sum of money would have been spent to bring this building which had been neglected for almost a decade.back to good community use,

As soon as payments was made and contracts were signed (by the council before Labour Party took office) we started the clean-up, refurbish the building and had employed local builders, as this was authorised by Croydon Council as soon as payment was made as they had given us the key beforehand in January 2014. This was crushed when Labour Party took over Croydon Council in May 2014 and forced us to take back the premium paid, refused to exchange the signed contract after the agreed selling price had been paid and decided to  give this Public Asset to their  Political Activist group who was not part of the Public Open Tender Process.

The community needs us and we are here to serve (This is evident through signed consultation forms by the local community). 11 months down the line nothing has been done. Our Five months hard work of clearing this building is undone by this continued neglect. The building have suffered enough and our refurbishment would be completed by now and the community enjoying its use

No Political Party should be able to take over the Council and stop approved and authorised worthwhile projects like this from going ahead after a legally binding contract is signed.  They have refused to meet with this charity to discuss viable alternative and an amicable solution.

Please support this cause as we stamp out this injustice and unfairness and force Croydon Labour Party to retract their decision and give us back our building.
