The removal of the Stonewall Jackson statue at the Harrison County courthouse located in Clarksburg, WV is NOT the way to create positive change. These statues serve as a reminder of our nation's past, good and bad. They represent different things to everybody. What NOT to do as a nation and what TO do as a nation. Removing statues is very reminiscent of Middle Eastern radical groups, the Facist Nazi's, and many other groups that promote hate and violence. This is a dangerous precedent and once statues are gone, what is next? I appreciate peaceful protests, even if I disagree with the cause, BUT defacing our nation's historical monuments is NOT peaceful and serves NO purpose except for gaslighting divisive hate. 

We must preserve our history, to learn from it and treasure it. Statues represent pride for ALL Americans. Overcoming our sins and learning from them. Stonewall Jackson (and Robert E. Lee) have been misrepresented for far too long. These men were the first "civil rights activist" in our great nation. They believed that all children, regardless of color, were equal and children of God. During The Civil War, Both of these men, at the cost of being hung, held Sunday reading classes, built/funded schools specifically for black children, and providrd church services as well. These men risked everything to create positive change and to make the REPUBLICAN parties dream to abolish slavery a reality. The democrats harshly voted AGAINST the freeing of slaves, while the Republicans unanimously voted to abolish slavery and thought that all men, regardless of color, were created equal. 

Please sign this petition to preserve our statues and our history. They are a reminder of what this nation can do when we all come together snd gather in love and peace. Stonewall Jackson was a progressive civil rights activist that wanted all men to be treated equal. Before ripping statues of people down, because they're white, KNOW THEIR HISTORY. Tearing down statues solely based on skin color is not only ignorant but serves NO purpose other than gaslighting, division, false propoganda and hate. We can do better and ARE better than this.
