Build a public, concrete skatepark in Cloquet, MN

This petition had 361 supporters

Within the city limits of Cloquet there are numerous baseball fields, basketball courts, football fields and ice rinks. But not one skatepark.

Building a highly visible, concrete skatepark in Cloquet is important because there are many kids who skateboard that do not have a place to practice their skills at. Having a safe place for kids to recreate at keeps them off the streets and gives their parents peace of mind. Well built, quality skateparks also attract tourists. which in turn increases the revenue of local businesses and enhances the town's reputation. Also, skateparks are fun places to be!

Building the skatepark with concrete is vital to the longevity of the skatepark. Wooden, modular structures do not withstand Minnesota's harsh winters well enough to be used practically. Although a cheaper option, cities often end up paying more for maintaining modular structures in the long run.

As skateboardings mainstream popularity increases, the demand for skateparks rises. Every community should have a well built skatepark to compliment their parks system.

In conclusion, building a Cloquet skatepark is important to the development of young skaters as well as the evolution and well-being of the community as a whole. #cloquetneedsaskatepark
