While I am concerned about the slippery slope this petition represents, I am willing to compromise. For some, partially-hydrogenated oils and trans fatty acids are simple indulgences that get them through the day. For others, flavored cardboard is an acceptable substitute for a delicious American pastime. So going forward, I hereby approve both Newman-O's AND Oreo cookies. Furthermore, I also approve the procurement of a cookie jar in which the two cookie types shall be mixed in equal proportion. Every decision in life is a gamble. Reaching for your afternoon snack should be no different.
