E-waste is a major problem! E- waste is a term given to electronic waste such as computers, phones, tablets, and even white goods.

The toxic substances from E-waste are deadly if it is not dealt with properly, there are many disposal sites around Australia and people need to be aware of the consciences if they do the wrong thing.

98% off all New Zealand’s E-waste goes to landfill that is an absolutely insane and disgraceful number. Every time you put your phone, computer, or iPad in the bin you release dangerous and toxic chemicals like mercury into the environment which can affect humans massively as well as animals.

The Siamang is an animal that is affected immensely by E-waste dumping and burning, Siamangs are from Malaysia and the toxic fumes destroy the poor creature's lungs and they regularly die.

Another horrific thing about E-waste is people from less privileged nations burn the E-waste for the precious metals like gold and silver, but unfortunately the fumes released have traces of deadly chemicals which cut the life spans of these people dramatically and in the animal's case; fatal!

But we can stop this happening by disposing our E-waste responsibly. If we do not stop dumping our E-waste, we will likely destroy all the local waterways and grasslands so they cannot be inhabited.

It is so stupid that because we cannot be bothered to drop our E-waste off at a proper disposal sight and we just dump it in our bins shows that we have no empathy towards the ecosystems and animals that are suffering.

From this moment on let us pledge to not dump our E-waste in landfill and create more of an environmental disaster. Let us try reverse some of the damage that we have already caused.

I hope this petition has provided you with more knowledge and helped you understand how much of a problem E-waste is on us and on our planet.

Sign this petition to demand that all local governments, state governments and the federal government have easy to access E-waste recycling centres.
