LAST THURSDAY I WAS ASSAULTED BY CEHL’S SECURITY

The government and CEHL must answer to the way it has treated Louise Goode and the members of the community that have tried to support her. When this petition was started l was warned l would be targeted.

I was shocked and dismayed when the Minister’s Chief of Staff pledged to step in and make it right if we did not talk to the media – and then stall and take the offer away.

Disgusted when CEHLS representative in court said “it is not about the money” and devastated when Louise was evicted from her home of 29 years. ALL RENT IS PAID.

Then l learnt how far CEHL will go.

Police as well as ARMED SECURITY removed this just over 5 foot elderly women from her home. Speaking with an officer he was even dismayed that such force was being used.

The heavy-handed eviction of Louise then spilled out onto our Suburban streets.

When Louise was evicted, we saw gun totting security move in to intimidate and bring fear. If you had been seen talking to Louise you would be followed and stalked home with a slow drive by to follow.

Fearing her house was being broken into l called out to ask if everything was okay then had a security guard rush at me with a gun in his hand threatening “Annette if you do not get the FUCK out of here l will arrest you”.  I never divulged my name to him. I made a complaint and nothing happened.

I took the Complaint to Darebin Council and they tried to reach out to CEHL with a complaint also.

The wonderful Carolyn Lunt came with me to Kat Theophanous office to raise a complaint about the tactics used by CEHL. When she cried “As an elderly citizen this could be me’’, l did not realise this could be me too. Our elected Labour Minister who is paid more than our Councillors did nothing. Housing, safety, violence.

On the one-day Louise was allowed to collect her belongings Deputy Mayor Gaetano Greco came out and took a photo of the house. A CEHL staffer flanked by TWO ARMED GUARDS approached him and said if he does not stop taking pictures Louise will have to leave the premises and not get her belongings.

Yes, l have become scared about who is in our street. Which brings me to Thursday the 8th of July, l took some pictures of number plates, a security guard then rushed towards me from a distance about to strike me with his phone which l deflected. Unfortunately, this resulted in him throwing and tackling me to the ground, well onto the road. 

I am absolutely shaken to the core but probably one of the most disheartening things is when l called police, they were not available. When Louise was evicted 3 squad cars could be sent, she is 65, 5 foot nothing and not violent.

I AM IN ABSOLUTE FEAR OF GUN TOTING SECURITY GUARDS MENACING OUR STREETS, POLICE NOT PROTECTING US AND POLITICIANS ENDORSING THIS.

Did l wear a short skirt, did l deserve this? Did l stand up for someone, did l deserve to be assaulted? 

COMMON EQUITY HOUSING HAS SPENT $$$ OVER A DECADE TRYING TO GET LOUISE OUT, THEY HAVE HER RENT.

THE PROPERTY OVER THREE TITLES HAS KNOW BEEN SOLD AT AN APPARENTLY MUCH, MUCH LESS THAN OTHERS AROUND THE AREA.

MONEY HAS BEEN SPENT ON ARMED GUARDS PATROLLING FOR MONTHS.

HUGE THANKS TO THE RENTAL AND HOUSING UNION AND SAVE PUBLIC HOUSING FOR THE SUPPORT TO ADVOCATE FOR ALL THE VULNERABLE .
