COVID-19 and social distancing will be the norm for the foreseeable future. The State and Federal Governments have announced common sense measures to combat the spread of the virus. Most Victorians are doing the right thing and self-isolating at home.

Understandably, activities outside the home are limited but essential to maintaining a community feeling and mental health.

Shutting cinemas across the State is a prudent measure but including drive-ins does not make much sense.

With minor limitations (no diner, online only tickets etc) drive-in cinemas are safe and would only encourage the community to self-isolate by giving people a much needed change of scenery. In fact, pop-up drive-ins should be considered in the medium term.

This petition calls on Victorian State Premier, Daniel Andrews and Moreland City Council Mayor, Lambros Tapinos to entertain, motivate and revitalise the community in what is to be a long period of isolation by reopening Coburg Drive-in.
