Improve transparency and lower the proposed tuition increase

The Issue

Connecticut families and UConn students are struggling with the rising cost of tuition and room and board.  But, the out-of-touch administration at UConn has dramatically raised tuition without giving students, parents or taxpayers a chance to object.

The process to increase tuition must be transparent and increases can only come at a sustainable rate.   The unsustainable spending at universities and educational institutions across America is leading to an entire generation of broke graduates.

The next big economic bubble to burst will be student loan debt with the tens of billions owed.  We have millions of students with tens of thousand of dollars in student debt and no near-term hope for a job in this economy.  Many of them are going to be left with little choice bit to default - if new regulations will allow it.  UConn shouldn't participate in the education spending Ponzi scheme going on across America.  UConn should do better by parents and students.  More money doesn't always mean a better result.

In these tough times, UConn needs to learn how to do more with less.
